“Vessel Casualty Report gives details of vessels which have met with some casualty while carrying cargo from one Port to another and which may have resulted in (i) loss/damage to the cargo carried in the vessel or (ii) General Average Loss/Expenditure.

Please go through the Casualty Report and check whether your cargo had been carried in any of the vessels mentioned therein and check with your Cargo Handling Agents whether there is any loss/damage to your cargo.  If yes, we can help you in arranging survey and doing other formalities related to the Insurance Claim.

Even if there is no loss/damage to your cargo, there may be a General Average Loss/Expenditure incurred by other Cargo Owners /Shipping Co. for which the Shipping Company may send you notice demanding your share of loss. Similarly, in case your cargo is part of the General Average Loss, you need to recover the loss. In such events also, we can help you in completing the Insurance formalities”.

“LAKE ONTARIO” – IMO:9283538 – Flag: Antigua and Barbuda – Type: Cargo Ship       
On October 2, the “Lake Ontario” suffered a main engine failure on its approach to the anchorage of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. The vessel dropped anchor to assess the problem. No pollution or damage was reported.

“ULYSSE” – IMO:9142459 – Flag: Tunisia  – Type: Cargo Ship
On October 7, the collision of the “Ulysses” and the “CLS Virginia” about 28 km north of Cap Corse in French waters was caused by human failure. While the data of the VDR of both ships have not yet been analyzed, it occurred undeniable that there was a human error, intentional or not, of the captain of the “Ulysses” since he has never tried to avoid the collision with the container ship. The French maritime authorities, however, failed to alert the two ships before the collision. There was a routine communication 40 minutes before the accident, but after that no communication took place. For the moment, all these data were being analyzed by a Tunisian, Cypriot and French commission of inquiry under the vigilance of the international transport organization which ensured the proper conduct of the investigation

“GUO YUAN 1” – IMO:67221928 – Flag: China – Type: Cargo Ship
On October 11, the “Guo Yuan 1” arrived at Yizheng and sailed again on October 14. The ship, loaded with 54230 metric tonnes of coal, had been in collision with 13 vessels near No. 109 buoy on the Yangtze River while approaching the Dingyizhou Anchorage on Oct 9 at 6.10 p.m. Three vessels, the “Susuhuo 1528”, “Susuhuo 1526” and “Haixiang 16”, had sunk, and about four vessel suffered damages. Four people went missing. The “Guo Yuan 1” suffered slight damages and was arranged for load shedding. The cause of damage was investigated by the MSA.

“MA CGM MUMBAI” –        IMO 9778131 – Flag: Hong Kong  – Type: Container Ship
On October 13, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has ordered an inquiry into the allision of the “CMA CGM Mumbai” its fourth container terminal, Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Private Ltd (BMCTPL), managed by Port of Singapore Authority. The vessel which arrived from Karachi made contact with the BMCTPL’s jetty at 252 meters chainage mark, which caused damage to the jetty and the bow of the ship. The inquiry into the incident was being carried out and all relevant data/recordings were being analyzed.
