“Vessel Casualty Report gives details of vessels which have met with some casualty while carrying cargo from one Port to another and which may have resulted in (i) loss/damage to the cargo carried in the vessel or (ii) General Average Loss/Expenditure.

Please go through the Casualty Report and check whether your cargo had been carried in any of the vessels mentioned therein and check with your Cargo Handling Agents whether there is any loss/damage to your cargo.  If yes, we can help you in arranging survey and doing other formalities related to the Insurance Claim.

Even if there is no loss/damage to your cargo, there may be a General Average Loss/Expenditure incurred by other Cargo Owners /Shipping Co. for which the Shipping Company may send you notice demanding your share of loss. Similarly, in case your cargo is part of the General Average Loss, you need to recover the loss. In such events also, we can help you in completing the Insurance formalities”.

“ECKERT OLDENDORFF” – IMO:9676591 – Flag: Malta – Type: Cargo Ship
On January 15, the “Eckert Oldendorff” en route from Antwerp to Las Palmas with a crew of 22 on board, suffered a sensor failure in pos. 050 20 11.0 N 000 55 23.0 W 20 miles southeast of St. Cats Point, Isle of Wight. The replacement took one hour. The vessel resumed its voyage to Tenerife at 8.50 p.m.

“ALEXANDER TVARDOVSKIY” – IMO:9057290 – Flag: Cook Islands – Type: Cargo Ship
On January 20, the “Alexander Tvardoskiy” ran aground just north of the presumed tunnel. The ship was on its way from Riga to Goole with a cargo of wood. The ship was detained until it can be examined. The Danish Defense sent a patrol boat and a helicopter in the area to monitor the situation for pollution. After a few hours, the ship managed to get free around noon by its own power. It has now been anchored up north of Middelgrunds Fort off Copenhagen in pos. 55° 44.47′ N 012° 39.61′ E where divers will examine the bottom of the vessel.

“REFLEX” – IMO:8882973 –  Flag: Norway  – Type: Cargo Ship
On January 20, the “Reflex”, coming from Torangsvag, ran aground in Alverstraumen in Lindas. The well boat was enroute to Alversund with a crew of four people on board when it got stuck at the south side of Kongsholmen just below the Alversund bridge. The MRCC sent a lifeboat to the scene. The “Reflex” did not take in water. The cause of the grounding was unclear, but the fairway was quite narrow in the area. After it was pulled free by the lifeboat, it berthed in Maloy on January 21.

“BORE BANK” – IMO:9160774 – Flag: Finland – Type: Cargo Ship
On January 17, the “Bore Bank”, upon its scheduled arrival from Kotka at 4.30 a.m, ran aground off the eastern breakwater of Rostock-Warnemünde. The ship was resting perpendicular to the fairway and barred the entry to the port completely so that other ferries had to wait off the port. The accident was thought to have been caused by a rudder failure. Three tugs, the “Fairplay VI“, “Bugsier 16“ and “Fairplay XII“ were called to assist, two connected to the stern, the third to the bow. Within one hour they managed to refloat the ship which was docked at berth 60 in the Rostock Seaport around 8 a.m. The marine police launched an investigations. A diver surveyed the hull during the regular cargo operations at the quay. The ferry left the port again on January 18 at 2 a.m., bound to Lübeck. She berthed in the Vorwerk Port at 6.50 a.m.
