Based on the order dated 10th August 2017 passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Writ Petition (c) No.13029 of 1985 in M. C. Mehta Vs Union and Others, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways have directed all General Insurance Companies not to insure a vehicle unless it has a valid PUC certificate on the date of renewal of the insurance policy.

For vehicles registered as transport vehicles also a Valid Fitness certificate is required on the date of renewal of insurance policy.

In view of this requirement all vehicle owners are advised to obtain the required certificate well in advance of renewal due date of insurance policy to ensure continuous renewal of the insurance policy.
